Green Witch at Heart Signs

There is something that even the most eloquent words can only begin to describe about being outdoors. Magick courses through the plants, trees, and creatures that inhabit our world. Nature is quite honestly simply beautiful.

It is easy, far too easy, to get lost in the day to day – in washing dishes, doing laundry, and running errands. You can get so caught up that you lose sight of that beauty, simply because you’ve run short on time. Yet, it waits there, awaits you, with its beautiful magick no matter how sidetracked you get.

There are so many signs, far more than simply 5 which may suggest that your heart is aligned with the path of green witchcraft. This blog post merely traces the surface of the passions and inspirations of a green witch.

As always, feel free to take the magickal messages here that resonate most with your spirit and let the rest be. Your spirit and intuition are always the best guides for your spiritual path. 🌳

1. You’re at Home in Nature

Is there anything like being outside? No really – is there? I love me some cosy time in my blankets on a cold winter’s evening (which is exactly what’s on the go while I write this) but spirit still nonetheless always pulls towards nature. Even when I’m indoors I prefer to be close to a window if possible. That way I am awash with natural light and I can watch the clouds do their thing.

Do you find yourself driven towards nature? Do you find peace when you are surrounded by greenery outdoors? Do you feel as if nature recharges your spirit? If you answered yes to any of these questions then green witchcraft may be calling to you.

One of the intrinsic parts of green witchcraft no matter your path, is a connection with nature and a respect for the healing power of the natural world.

2. You Want to Adopt Every Plant You See

Personally, I have an inescapable desire to adopt most of the plants I see whether I’m at the grocery store or in a greenhouse. I just see those green babies and I’m kind of like a kid in a candy store. I want them all. I want to learn how to nurture them, and grow them so that they flourish. I want to learn how they tick and what energy they want to share.

This isn’t to say that I – or any green witch for that matter – is a perfect, natural green thumb. Weaving green magick through gardening is an ever evolving process of learning.

So, if you’re not a natural green thumb and yet still find yourself called to the path of green witchcraft don’t panic. It’s not an innate skill with plants that suggests green witchcraft may be a good path for you. Rather it’s your desire to learn how to care for them that truly counts.

If you feel a pull within spirit to learn how to garden and weave green magick by caring for your plants, that is a sign in itself. 🌱

3. Plant Lore Intrigues You

We inherited an extensive wealth of knowledge about plants from our ancestors. Today, many of our modern medicines are made based on this knowledge, or on variations of it.

Then, there’s the everyday plant medicine and lore. Even those who aren’t intrigued by plant lore likely come across this simply in passing. Just think of all the tea you see in a grocery store. Some brands base their products around the natural healing knowledge of plants.

Have you ever seen a chamomile or lavender tea blend for relaxation and sleep? How about a green tea cleanse? There are countless popular herbal infusion teas that plant lore has inspired.

Do you find yourself drawn to learn more about these plants and their healing properties? Are you intrigued by the symbolism that ancient cultures like the Celts associated with different plants? A desire to dive into a study, even if just casually, of this ancient plant lore may be a sign that you are a green witch at heart.

4. The Seasons Fascinate You

The longer I follow this winding magickal path, the more awareness and the deeper respect I have for the seasons. When the first snow falls I can’t help but watch for a few minutes at the very least, meditating on the change of the season. Then, when summer arrives I cannot get enough of being outside. I would stay out all day reading under a tree if I could.

Many pagans, green witches and magickally minded peeps honour the seasons by following the Wheel of the Year. The Wheel of the Year marks 8 sabbats – Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnasadh, Mabon and Samhain.

Each of these sabbats honours the present season and its unique attributes. Yule celebrates the Winter Solstice, Imbolc celebrates days that are gradually getting longer, Ostara celebrates the Spring Solstice and so on.

You don’t have to honour, follow or even resonate with the Wheel of The Year to resonate with green magick. Though, if you would like to strengthen your connection to the seasons and their magick it may be something to look into.

5. You Turn Into a Viking Warrior When Your Plants Are Sick

This one is in no small part inspired by my own experiences with plants. Whenever one of my plants get sick, or they share little pesties and icky bugs I feel a bit like I turn into a Viking warrior in my attempt to save them.

I don my respective armor and shield, of spray bottle, potting soil, and clippers. Then I head to work tending to them the best way I can – ready to do battle with any bugs that would harm them.

Do you ever feel this way about your plants, feel the need to nurture, and protect them as though they are as conscious as you or I? Then this may be yet another signs that green witchcraft is a path to look further into.

Many green witches deeply respect their plant’s spirits. They do everything they can to care, heal, and honour their green spirits.

I identify with every one of these! Almost in a comedic way, especially with point 5. I am beginning my studies in Green Witchery and, the more I study, the more I wonder what took me so long to reach this point. I am very happy that a Wicca resource came to me. I have found my home :D!

Thank you very much for posting this by the way! Blessed Be!
